Credit Cards Can Be Your Best Friend Or Your Worst Nightmare

Ξ November 30th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Credit help |

Credit cards are abused so much that banks now offer secured cards to help prevent credit problems. With a secured card, also called a prepaid card, you “load” your card with a prepaid amount of money. Credit cards are often necessary when placing orders online or over the phone. Does this mean a person with bad credit can’t do any of these things? No it just makes acquiring a credit card a little harder with a low credit score. Credit cards are a privilege that offers many advantages. Having a student credit card allows you to pay bills and make purchases online or over the telephone with great convenience.

Credit cards are said to be revolving credit because they charge interest on the money that has been borrowed and not repaid in full at the end of the billing cycle. They are, for all intents and purposes, revolving credit loans. These cards are a widely accepted form of payment making them extremely convenient to use. They are accepted in face-to-face transactions, as well as with online transactions. Credit cards are easy to use, they are easy to understand, and they are highly familiar to people.

Credit cards are dissimilar from debit cards in that they do not eliminate money from the user’s account following each transaction. You can use all of the cards that you are able to apply for effectively but you will have to make expected payments at least on a monthly basis in order to keep the cards. If one could live in a world where you never need to borrow money this would be great but, they are sometimes simply necessary . If you are considering getting a credit card you can review different options available in the marketplace online.

Mastercard offers consumers many options. Spending flexibility and purchasing power that’s right for you. MasterCard is also rolling out PayPass for use in vending machines; tests are set for the Philadelphia area. MasterCard (MA) raised their guidance last quarter citing evidence of higher rate of growth during the last recession in the early 90s.

Visa cards are the number one credit card used by people around the world, Visa offers exceptional convenience and reliability. Visa has unsurpassed acceptance in more than 150 countries, as well as at Internet merchants.

Gas cards are becoming more and more popular. Gas stations are merchants that primarily sell vehicle fuel for consumer use. Gas credit cards often offer attractive rates and even offer discounts for purchasing gas on their cards.

American Express cards are especially popular in North America and Europe where this credit card can offer great deals. American Express is primarily targeted at movers and shakers in the business world and ‘frequent fliers’, hence the provision for travel cover (which typically includes: lost/stolen luggage, delayed flights and other mishaps). American Express cards are less widely accepted but there are many American Express office where travelers checks may be cashed.

Credit cards can be a great form of paying for items but it is important to realize that they are almost always charging you interest on you purchases and whenever possible it is recommended to pay for items with cash. One positive feature of using a credit card is that you can open a charge back dispute with your credit card company if you run into trouble with an item you purchase using that card. Your credit card company will stop payment to the merchant and help you investigate the situation and refund your payment if they feel you were unjustly taken advantage of.

Is the Credit Crunch Even Affecting Google’s Holidays?

Ξ November 27th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Credit help |

As we all know the credit crunch has affected each and every one of us, it has brought on thousands of redundancies not to mention hundreds of companies being put into liquidation.

But internet search giants Google have come out of it much better than a lot of companies, but that is not to say that they have not felt the pinch a little. No matter how big a company is it does not stop it being affected by a global financial crisis. I in fact in all honestly do not expect Google to struggle for one of two reasons. The first being that they are giving something unique to the world, they deserve to be rewarded for all the free and useful sites they have given us such as Google and YouTube not to mention many more and the second is that they are genuinely a great company.

But this year is it looks as though they will be cutting back on their festive holiday celebrations due to the economic situation and I believe this is 100% correct to do and yet again they are thinking about their users. The reason I say this is simply because everyday in the news we see company directors splashing out on extravagant hotels and holiday meetings, while they get bailed out by the government. I actually think what Google is doing is extraordinary because obviously they have the financial funds to throw a huge party, but it of course is much better to keep it on the low, so they do not upset people that are struggling.

Google are very well known for throwing the best holiday events, last year a crowd of around 10,000 people turned up around the Google headquarters to celebrate the occasion, with parties that involved sculptures of the company’s logo, virtual reality video game stations, buffets and burlesque dancers, not to mention much more.

It is said that this year the company will instead be performing team activities such as volunteering for social activities such as museum visits and dinner parties.

There you have it, and this article is really for all the companies that are struggling but still splashing out on luxuries that really cannot be afforded, why not take Google’s example and cut back on unnecessary spending? I am certain that if every company in the world took this approach then we could save millions of pounds that could effectively be put back into the economy.

Where to Find the Best Business Credit Card Deals

Ξ November 24th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Credit help |

You’re ready to apply for your first business credit card - but where do you find the best business card deals? Sure, there are plenty of offers out there; each with deals and discounts that make each one more tempting than the last - but where do you go to make sure that the one you choose is the one that is the best available?

The answer may seem an unusual one: the first place you research is your own business. The reasoning behind this is that no two businesses are going to need the same qualities from a business credit card and, unless you’ve some how started an international, multi-million pound corporation, the likelihood of getting one that is actually tailor-made for your business is minimal to say the least.

For the rest of us mere mortals, the best thing you can do is try and take an objective look at your company and ask yourself a few questions, such as: how much credit does my business need? How much can it reasonably afford to repay? What do I need the card for? Who else will use the card? What repeat payments will my company probably need to make? If you can answer these questions, you will be able to identify the best credit card deal for your company.

Answering what you need the card for will directly inform your answer to how much credit your company needs. If you can ascertain areas where credit will be needed, you can roughly calculate how much will cover those eventualities. Alternatively, should you just require the credit as a facility for times when cash flow is restricted, then you might just want to start thinking about APRs and how much you feel you can afford to repay. When it comes to repayments, the introductory offers available can dazzle rather than inform; 0% is a common offer these days, but the important figure is the one that tells you just how much the APR will rise to once the introductory period has expired. This, again, will have some bearing on the type of business credit card that you choose.

Deciding whether you, as the owner, will have sole use of the card - or whether supplementary cards will be issued to employees will also have some influence on your choice. A business credit card allows you to track and monitor transactions online and there are packages available that allow you to put a limit on employee spending. If more than one person is to be issued with a card, you may want to consider business cards that offer protection against employee misuse, as well as fraud and the protection that credit cards offer against faulty goods and unsatisfactory services.

Repeat spending can be analysed and factored into the equation; if you can see that there are likely to be regular payments made on certain goods and services, then compare the deals and discounts on offer between the card providers. Some of these may directly relate to your company’s expenditure and can help to reduce outgoings where things like Airmiles or hotel accommodation are concerned, for example. These perks are designed with business owners in mind and can be of great advantage. If your employees clock-up a large amount of road-mileage, then a card that offers cashback or discounts on fuel could be invaluable; a little research will tell you which benefits serve your company the best. In fact, the answer to the original question can be best summed up, using this example; by researching all the financial aspects of your company and analysing all the products that are available, you are far more likely to end up choosing the business credit card that serves your company’s requirements than you would be if you just plumped for the first appealing offer.

Credit Repair Secrets That Optimize Credit Scores - An Insider’s Guide

Ξ November 23rd, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Credit help |

Credit scores range from 350 to 850 - the higher your score, the more favorable interest rates you will receive on a loan.

A credit score is a number calculated based on information in your credit report. It is intended to measure an individual’s credit risk. The most widely used credit score, formulated by Fair Isaacs Corp is called a “FICO score,” usually ranges from 300 to 850. Lenders view those with a higher score as presenting less credit risk of defaulting on a loan. Credit reporting agencies may each calculate a somewhat different FICO score because of differences in the information that is reported to those agencies. You are entitled to obtain your credit score from your lender free of charge when applying for a mortgage and in other certain situations as when denied a loan. Typically credit scores are not “free” and you can purchase your credit score from the credit reporting agencies or a private company.

Errors in your credit report can affect your credit score and your ability to get a loan at a favorable interest rate. While you cannot dispute a low credit score, you can challenge the information in your report used to compute your score. Negative information brings down your score and its removal can result in a higher score.

Credit repair professionals know this and can charge your hundreds to thousands of dollars to use the techniques outlined below. What the Credit Reporting Agencies don’t tell you is:

• Each item on your credit report must be proven or it cannot remain in the report. If the credit bureau cannot verify the item when investigated, it must be removed from your file whether or not it’s true.

• Every negative entry on your report can be denied or challenged at any time. The bureau must reinvestigate and if that item cannot be verified within a “reasonable amount of time”, it must be removed from the file.

• Many times the creditor does not re-verify in time or the credit bureau is busy and does not handle your dispute properly. It must then be deleted.

• The older an item, the more difficult re-verification is. It is possible it cannot be verified because records may no longer exist after 1 or 2 years.

• After a sale or merger, the “new” company may fail to investigate or have difficulty accessing records.

• Credit repair always invokes one of these three true tactics:

1) requests for more information;

2) polite requests

3) legal demands based on the consumer laws.
